Wildlife Conservation Issue Mint Set of 3 Stamps United States, 1956
Each of these three mint stamps was issued during 1956 to promote the protection of wildlife. This attractively engraved set includes a Pronghorn Antelope buck and two does, a King Salmon migrating to a spawning grown, and a Wild Turkey. The Pronghorn Antelope had reduced in numbers to about 17,000 before multiplying rapidly under protection. Conservation of the King Salmon involved construction of fish elevators and ladders, elimination of log jams, and reducing the height of high waterfalls. The Wild Turkey was almost extinct in 1910, but with protection has made a comeback.

Condition: Mint, Never Hinged
Scott Catalogue Number(s): United States 1077-1079
