With the release of this mint booklet pane of 20 self-adhesive stamps, the U.S. Postal Service pays tribute to The Simpsons
, the longest-running prime time comedy in American television history. The issue date (May 7, 2009) coincided with the 20th anniversary of the program as a regularly scheduled half-hour show. From the USPS publication US Philatelic
: "Cartoonist Matt Groening created the infamous Simpson family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson- all now identifiable by their silhouettes alone. For this project, the Postal Service was pleased to use original artwork created by Groening.
The booklet includes four each of five different stamp designs. The above images show the front and back sides of the booklet. Note that the booklet was issued with four different Simpsons character designs on the back (non-stamp side- cover)- the booklet you receive may have a design that is different from the one shown above.
The actual size of this never-folded booklet is 127 x 116 mm (5.00" x 4.57").
