Grandma Moses Painting - Baseball Plate Number Block of 4 United States, 1969
This item is a mint plate number block of four stamps. Issued by the United States in 1969, the stamps depict a Grandma Moses painting. A baseball game scene is included within the vignette. For collectors of horses on stamps, the design also features several horses. Please click on the image or "Details" for additional information. Grandma Moses, the grand old lady of American painting, took up art at the age of 76 and continued until her death at age 101. Printed by the Intaglio and offset methods.

Please note that 50-stamp sheets of this issue were produced with the plate block (plate number) positioned at either the top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right position; the plate block you receive may be from any of these four positions. br>
Sheets of this issue were produced with a fluorescent taggant (used for automated mail sorting equipment) - the edges of the over-printed taggant are visible in the selvage (margins) of the plate block.
