Joe Fafard Art Issue First Day of Issue Cover Canada, 2012

In 2012, Canada Post celebrated the artwork of Canadian sculptor Joe Fafard with the release of three stamps (in a variety of formats; see item number AR121 for a sheet of the three stamps). The item offered here is an official first day of issue cover (envelope) for stamp featuring his sculpture "Smoothly She Shifted." Fafard was a master of a variety of media; the artwork on the envelope is his charcoal portrait of the horse "Fancy" (1980). The stamp is "tied" to the envelope with an official first day of issue cancellation (February 23, 2012). A photo of Fafard and a short bio (in English and French) is on the back of the envelope. Images of both sides are provided above.

The actual size of this first day cover is 114 x 191 mm (4.49 x 7.52 inches).
