This mint plate number block of four stamps, issued by the United States on June 30, 1950, honored the 40th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, and the second National Jamboree at Valley Forge, PA (my Dad attended this Jamboree!). The organization was incorporated on Feb. 8, 1910 and was formed by uniting Ernest Thompson Seton's "Woodcraft Indians" with Daniel Beard's "Sons of Daniel Boone," with ideas from the English program of Lord Robert Baden-Powell.
