Issued on October 8, 1983, this mint block of four stamps pays tribute to the evolution and importance of the streetcar in the United States. The stamps feature the first American streetcar (New York City, 1832), an early electric streetcar (Montgomery, Alabama, 1886), a "Bobtail" horsecar (Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, 1926), and a St. Charles streetcar (New Orleans, Louisiana, 1923).
