Issued by the U.S. Postal Service on January 19, 2001, this mint, never folded, booklet pane of 20 self-adhesive stamps features a single rose overlaying a 1763 love letter written by John Adams to Abigail Smith (who became Abigail Adams in 1764). This issue was produced during a postal rate change and, being uncertain what the new First Class rate would be, is non-denominated. The face value of the stamps ended up being 34 cents. Issued by the U.S. Postal Service on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2001, this mint, never folded, booklet pane of 20 self-adhesive stamps features a single rose overlaying a 1763 love letter written by John Adams to Abigail Smith (who became Abigail Adams in 1764). This booklet pane, with a 34-cent First Class rate denomination, was produced less than a month after a non-denominated version was issued during a postal rate change period (when available, see our item# FL70; Scott Cat.# 3496a). Photographs of the following four flowers are depicted in this mint, never folded, booklet pane of 20 self-adhesive stamps: Freesia, Cymbidium Orchid, Longiflorum Lily, and Asian Hybrid Lily. Although these stamps ended up having a face value of 34 cents, they were produced non-denominated in anticipation of a 2001 first class rate increase (the new rate was unknown at the time of production).
