The 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence was celebrated on Sunday, July 4th, 1976. The United States, as well as many foreign countries, celebrated this American Bicentennial event with the release of commemorative postage stamps.

The four sheets each include five stamps and are miniaturized versions of the following four American masterpieces: "Surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown" by John Trumbull, "Declaration of Independence" by John Trumbull, "Washington Crossing the Delaware" by Emmanuel Leutze / Eastman Johnson, and "Washington Reviewing Army at Valley Forge" by William T.
