Issued on Feb. 26, 1946 this mint stamp honored the achievments of the U.S. Merchant Marine in World War II. The engraved design is from a composite of photographs of two Liberty Ships, the "James Madison" and the "John W. Troy."

Issued on Nov. 10, 1945, this mint stamp honored the U.S. Coast Guard's service in World War II. The Coast Guard is the nation's oldest uniformed service; it participated in every major invasion of the war. Featured on the stamp is a Coast Guard landing craft and supply ship.

The 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) championship games mark the 100th anniversary of the IIHF. The games are to be held in Quebec City and Halifax, the first time these championship games will be held in Canada. On April 3, 2008, Canada issued this booklet of ten postage stamps to commemorate the games held in Halifax; the stamps capture the energy, excitment and spirit of the competition and commemorate the first 100 years of the IIHF.

Issued by Gambia in 1992, this mint stamp sheet features the then Gambian president Sir Dawda Jawara (re-elected five times). President Jawara was an avid golfer, as was his wife, and did much to promote golf and tourism in general in West Africa. His son, Ebrima Jawara, is the president of the Gambia Golf Association.

The U.S. Postal Service issued this mint stamp on September 22, 1981 to honor Babe Zaharias (Mildred Didrikson Zaharias), one of the greatest athletes of the first half of the 20th century. She won virtually every women's golf title, both as an amateur and as a professional.

This mint stamp, issued by the U.S. on June 13, 1988, commemorates the 75th anniversary of Francis Quimet's victory at the U.S. Open Golf Championship; Quimet was the first amateur to win the event.
