This well-designed mint souvenir sheet celebrates "Jailhouse Rock," an American motion picture directed by Richard Thorpe and released by MGM on October 30, 1957 (Elvis' song "Jailhouse Rock" was released the prior month). The film stars Elvis Presley (his 3rd film role), Judy Tyler, and Mickey Shaughnessy. Tyler, Elvis' co-star, died in an automobile accident a few weeks after the film was completed. Reportedly, this so upset Elvis that he never saw the completed film. This sheet, featuring Elvis on the movie set, was issued by Gambia in 2009 and includes one high denomination stamp.
