Palau commemorated the 50th anniversary of the start of the Pacific Theatre of World War II (1941-1945) with the release of this mint sheet of 10 stamps on December 6, 1991. The stamps ten different events, beginning wih the Pearl Harbor attack and ending with the landing of U.S. troops on iwo Jima. Palau, a group of 100 islands in the west Pacific Ocean, is a former U.S. Trust Territory.

This mint sheet of 10 stamps, issued by the Solomon Islands on Aug. 7, 1992, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands (August, 1942).
