Issued by the United States on April 5, 1972, to commemorate the National Parks centennial, the design of this block of four mint stamps (each of the four stamps features a component of the single design) is an artistic view of Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The design includes fishermen, birds, and the Lighthouse at Cape Hatteras.

The United States commemorated the 150th anniversary of Maine's entry into the Union with this mint stamp issued on July 9, 1970. The stamp features Edward Hopper's oil painting of The Lighthouse at Two Lights. This painting is in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This mint stamp, issued by Gibraltar on June 8, 1970, commemorates the Europa Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse was erected by order of the Colonial Government in the first year of Queen Victoria's reign "for the protection of Mediterranean commerce and saving of human life and the honour of the British name." The foundation stone was laid in April, 1838; the first illumination was on August 1, 1841.
