This mint stamp, issued by the United States on August 3, 1998, honors the legendary director and producer of suspense thrillers, Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock (1899-1980) directed more than 50 films and his TV series, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," (1955-65) won two Emmy awards. Fans enjoyed spotting the cameo appearances he often made in his films. This stamp is unique among U.S. issues in that the silhouette in the upper left-hand corner is actually die cut into the face of the stamp.

This mint stamp, issued on July 22, 1999, by the U.S. Postal Service, honors the famous actor James Cagney. The stamp was issued in a sheet of 20 stamps (offered separately) with the following inscription in the margin (selvage): James Cagney (1899-1986) is one of the screen's most memorable stars. This dynamic and versatile actor is particularly remembered for his portrayal of the quintessential tough guy and for his Oscar-winning performance as entertainer George C. Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942). He appeared in more than 60 films and received the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award, the Kennedy Center Honor, and the Medal of Freedom."

A versatile actor on both stage and screen, Edward G. Robinson (1893-1973) appeared in more than 90 films and is perhaps best known for his portrayal of a gangster in "Little Caesar." The stamp features a portrait by Drew Struzan that is based on a black-and-white photograph taken by Elmer Fryer, probably in the 1930s. This mint stamp was issued by the U.S. postal Service on Oct. 24, 2000.
