First issued at South Bend, IN, by the U.S. Postal Service on August 8, 2004, this set of four mint self-adhesive stamps honors four legends from football's past: Walter Camp, Red Grange, Ernie Nevers, and Bronko Nagurski.

Issued by the United States Postal Service on May 24, 1984, this mint commemorative stamp pays tribute to the legendary American athlete, Jim Thorpe. The stamp depicts Thorpe on the sidelines in his football uniform with helmet in hand. At the 1912 Summer Olympics (Stockholm), Thorpe became the first athlete to win both the pentathlon and the decathlon. He excelled on the Football and Baseball fields as well.
