Here is a nice collection of 25 different stamps (most cancelled; a couple mint), each featuring basketball. Many issuing countries are represented and many commemorate Olympic basketball. Great for the basketball enthusiast.

On Feb. 10, 2005, Union Island of St. Vincent issued this sheet of 12 stamps to honor NBA star Alonzo Mourning of the Miami Heat. This mint sheet includes 12 stamps, each featuring Alonzo Mourning, the Miami Heat logo, and the NBA logo. The sheet selvage includes a photo of Alonzo in action, enlargements of the same logos, and player stats. This sheet was sanctioned by the NBA.

Sierra Leone issued this mint sheet of 12 stamps during 2004 to commemorate up-and-coming NBA star Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets. Carmelo, the Denver Nuggets logo, and the NBA logo are featured on each of the 12 stamps and in the sheet selvage. The selvage also includes player stats and a photo of Carmelo in action. The release of this stamp sheet was sanctioned by the NBA.

Issued in conjunction with the 1992 Summer Olympics (Barcelona, Spain), this cancelled souvenir sheet features Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers guarding Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls as he attempts a lay-up. The sheet was released by St. Thomas and Prince Islands during 1992 and includes the Olympic emblem.

Issued by Uruguay on June 9, 1967, this attractive souvenir sheet features basketball players in action and commemorates the 5th World Basketball Championships (held in Montevideo in May, 1967).

Issued by the U.S. Postal Service on November 6, 1961, this mint stamp commemorates Dr. James A. Naismith (1861-1939), Canadian-born inventor of basketball. While he was an instructer at Y.M.C.A. College (Springfield, Mass.), he saw a need for a fast-paced indoor sport that could be played in the Winter; in 1891, he invented the game.
